Efficiency v. Security
Thursday, April 5th, 2007My wife today came home and told me that one of biggest non-profit organizations in Boston area outsources their IT to outside company. And here I started to think. If I was the CTO of a non-profit, would I outsource the IT or not? It depends on what is the highest priority within your organization. If the security and privacy is the primary concern, then outsourcing, obviously, is ill-advised. However, with outsourcing you get the benefit of 24/7 customer support (come on, how many of you CTOs have the 24/7 IT support team on standby? 
) and the lower overhead of supporting the IT team.
Something to think about as the business of my heart is sure to expand in next 5 yrs.
