Last month of summer…

Friday, August 1st, 2008

We’re already into August! Lots of changes again - my MBA studies will instead start in January.  Things at my family’s start-up are moving both with spaceship’s speed and with snail’s speed (depending which thing).  I’ve also started tackling some of the financial issues that have been bothering me - hopefully it will be consistent and visible progress will be made.

That’s about it… Oh, and I got the iPhone 3G!

Working hard vs. working smart

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

Today I again experienced the same manifestation of this fact: it’s not how hard or how well you work, but how cleverly you package the results of your work that apparently brings you success.

This is actually sort of disheartening, as one can be working both hard and smartly, yet if stars do not align your way, it won’t matter.

Walk the talk

I saw a funny thing just a few minutes ago. I stumbled upon a website of a Boston-based company that designs and builds web-based business solutions. Curious, I checked out their careers site. And guess what? They ask any interested parties to send the cover letter and resume by … regular snail mail!  The company is about “web-based business solutions” yet it won’t accept emails??? What the heck? :)

Update

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

Man, so much has been occurring since last post! First, my wife and I are embarking on a very interesting path, becoming co-founders of our innovative non-profit.  Second, I’m trying something else on side. Third, of course, I am not forgetting my family’s business. With each passing month I feel more and more confident in my abilities, skills, mind, and my circle of friends.

Goods things come to those who are confident and aggressive.

Efficiency v. Security

Thursday, April 5th, 2007

My wife today came home and told me that one of biggest non-profit organizations in Boston area outsources their IT to outside company. And here I started to think.  If I was the CTO of a non-profit, would I outsource the IT or not? It depends on what is the highest priority within your organization.  If the security and privacy is the primary concern, then outsourcing, obviously, is ill-advised. However, with outsourcing you get the benefit of 24/7 customer support (come on, how many of you CTOs have the 24/7 IT support team on standby? :) ) and the lower overhead of supporting the IT team.

Something to think about as the business of my heart is sure to expand in next 5 yrs.

Hello all! Writing my first blog today. This blog will discuss the three areas that are of most interest to me - law, high technology, and biotech.  Hence the name for this blog! It’s incredible to be living at this moment and witness the merging of these three fields.  I look forward to conducting research on all these three fields and reporting the news, my thoughts, and analysis of what goes on in each and all of these fields.
